Auar, a London-based startup building automation technology for sustainable home construction, has raised £5.1M in funding to grow its team, expand internationally, and further mature its platform.
The round was led by Planet A, with participation from Shadow Ventures, Common Magic, Concrete VC, Strategic Angels, and returning backers Miles Ahead and ABB Robotics.
Founded in 2019 by Mollie Claypool (CEO) and Gilles Retsin (CTO), Auar delivers a fully integrated automated construction system, centered around its robotic Micro-Factories and AUAR MasterBuilder software. The platform enables modular, sustainable housing at scale — offering end-to-end design-to-manufacturing capabilities with greater efficiency, predictability, and cost control.
As the housing crisis deepens and environmental pressures intensify, Auar’s tech unlocks new possibilities in residential construction by combining robotics, software, and distributed manufacturing.
The company is preparing to launch across key European markets, including Benelux, DACH, and Nordics, as it builds a global partner network around its platform.
