Founded by Shruti Kutmutia and Dr. Pranav Nair in 2023, Bengaluru, India, BacAlt Biosciences is building sustainable specialty ingredients by turning agro-industrial waste into biopolymers using bio-manufacturing.

They develop high-performance and affordable ingredients for home care, personal care, agrochemicals, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals, replacing petrochemical and synthetic inputs.

The fresh capital will be used to boost R&D, set up pilot production, grow its team, and plan market expansion.

  • Commercially launching next June, aiming to set up a pre-pilot facility.
  • Combines proprietary fermentation platforms with circular use of agricultural waste to deliver ingredients meeting performance and cost thresholds for FMCG.
