Deeptech startup Sthyr Energy has secured $1 million in seed funding from Speciale Invest, with participation from Antares Ventures.
Sthyr is building mechanically rechargeable zinc-air batteries designed for seasonal and 100+ hour storage, using:
→ Non-flammable, water-based electrolytes
→ No rare earths, only abundant domestic metals
→ A modular, scalable design that separates energy and power
Founded by Gunjan Kapadia, Akhil Kongara and Muhammed Hamdan, Sthyr is building mechanically rechargeable Zinc-Air battery systems for long-duration and seasonal energy storage.
The mission? Enable grid-scale storage that stores solar in summer for use in winter, creating true energy security in a net-zero world.
“Our batteries aren’t just safer and cheaper—they’re geopolitically resilient,” said Gunjan Kapadia, Co-founder & CEO.
With global reliance on lithium-ion and rare earths becoming a bottleneck, Sthyr is taking a bold leap toward local, long-duration energy innovation.
