Clinic-management software company Docterz has raised ₹5 crore from about 35 investors, nearly 60% of it from doctors who already use its platform. The round had no named lead. It is notable because the product's own users are putting their money behind it.
The round
Docterz raised ₹5 crore (Rs 5 crore) from roughly 35 investors, according to the company's announcement as reported by Digital Health News. About 20 of them are doctors who use the platform, and together they contributed nearly ₹3 crore, around 60% of the total. No lead investor was named and no stage was disclosed.
Other investors include Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane. Docterz says it will use the money for organic growth, possible acquisitions and AI-enabled tools. Valuation and earlier funding were not reported.
What Docterz does
Docterz is an integrated platform for doctors to run clinical and administrative work. It covers electronic medical records, appointments, billing, vaccination management and patient engagement, and the company also offers pharmacy and lab management, patient communication, analytics and teleconsultation. The company says it supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a strong presence among paediatricians.
It was founded by Dr Atish Laddad, a practising paediatrician. Digital Health News describes the company as Mumbai-based and more than a decade old, without giving an exact founding year. Docterz targets independent practitioners and smaller clinics and says it integrates with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
The planned AI tools are meant for clinical documentation, administrative workflows, practice analytics and patient follow-ups. More coverage of the company is on its Docterz funding news page.
The investors
The round is a broad cap table rather than a single-lead deal. Dr Dhananjay Sangle, a paediatrician, told the publication he invested after several years of using the platform and because of his confidence in the founder. Dr Suhas Warad, also a paediatrician, said technology built around doctors' needs can help them run practices more efficiently and spend more time on patient care.
Vineeta Singh said customer participation in a funding round is a strong business signal and that doctors investing reflects their trust in the platform and its founder, as paraphrased by Digital Health News.
Why it matters
Clinic software for small practices is a crowded field, and adoption among independent doctors often depends on word of mouth. A round in which users hold nearly 60% of the new money is an unusual signal of that trust, though the company has not published retention or revenue figures. Docterz's stated focus on independent practitioners and smaller clinics, rather than hospital chains, places it in the HealthTech segment that serves the long tail of Indian medical practice.
The company's plans for acquisitions and AI tooling have no stated timeline or budget split.
